The decline in community services in the picturesque town of Heidelberg has raised concerns among its residents regarding the Lesedi Local Municipality's ability to meet the needs of the majority of ratepayers. In response, local businesses, community forums, and ratepayers collaborated to create Heidelberg Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gaps and restoring the town to its former glory
The organisational structure of Heidelberg Hope NPC involves key members from the local community that has a desire to improve the living conditions for all residents and businesses in Heidelberg. They aim to generate hope where despair in some instances seems to be the only option. Figure 2 IS a summary of the key role players in Heidelberg Hope and shows a sustainable structure where there is not reliance on the continuous commitment from one single person, but rather a collective of committed people. Experience has shown that sustainable structures are key to the success of any community driven initiative.
